the Bedtime Bunny
This award-winning children’s book motivates young kids to go to bed – and stay there – using the power of magic (and occasional rewards!). In this engaging and fun story, children learn why all the magic creatures need them to stay in their beds, even the unicorns and baby dragons.
After reading the book, children leave the included carrot outside their front door, with their names and bedtimes on the back. A magic Bedtime Bunny will come hopping while they are asleep, and might leave little surprises for them to find in the mornings (but only if the kids are in their beds!).
This beautiful 10″ x 10″ hardcover book is now available! Each book includes a glittery magic carrot for children to leave out for their bunny.
What Parents Are Saying
How it Works
The Bedtime Bunny uses the evidence-based behavior strategy of positive reinforcement to motivate young children to stay in bed.
- After reading the book, children write their names and bedtimes on the back of the sparkly carrot (included), and leave it by the door.
- If the children are in bed, a magic bedtime bunny will come hopping and leave a little surprise, maybe a note or treat.
- Over time, rewards become less frequent once good bedtime behaviors are established.

Christy Kaupinen and Gayle McDowell are sisters and co-creators of The Bedtime Bunny. The Bedtime Bunny is the mostly-true story of how the very first Bedtime Bunny began visiting Christy’s three young children, helping them to stay in bed at night. Gayle is the author of several technical books in the computer science industry, and this is her first children’s book. She is also a mom of two little night owls.
